wyeth reductions (2021)

The wyeth reductions were an attempt by the composer to take lyrical content from the abandoned wyeth sketches, the composer’s initial attempt at writing for full orchestra, and condense them into a work for piano solo. Due to pandemic restrictions and social distancing guidelines set in place at the time, the orchestral project was left unfinished. What remains is a whimsical but heartrending work, a sonic personification of bleak mid-century Americana.
